The customer is a building materials supplier storing concrete blocks, clay bricks and related masonry products in an outdoor and semi-covered warehouse area. The operation receives mixed pallet sizes from different production lines and must keep stock ready for local construction deliveries.
The warehouse uses a high-rack layout to save floor space and increase storage capacity. Because the building materials are heavy and usually palletized in large quantities, the handling equipment must be stable, reach high rack positions and move accurately in narrow aisles.
Block and brick pallets are dense and heavy, so the warehouse needed a machine with enough rated capacity to handle full loads safely while extending into upper rack levels.
The yard space around the racking was limited, and the aisles between storage rows were narrow, making it difficult for larger forklifts to position loads exactly where needed.
High-rack storage required good vertical reach and precise fork control so pallets could be placed without striking the rack structure or damaging the product wrap.
The supplier also needed faster stock rotation, since different product types had to be moved between incoming storage, picking zones and shipping bays throughout the day.
HAMAC supplied an HT6018 telehandler fitted with pallet forks and high-rack pallet handling forks for masonry storage. The telehandler combines heavy lifting capacity with telescopic reach, allowing it to place block and brick pallets into upper rack levels and retrieve them when needed.
HT6018 provides a 6 ton rated capacity suitable for heavy masonry pallets, a 17.6 m lift height for high-rack access and a 12 m outreach for reaching over obstacles or positioning pallets deeper into the storage layout. Its rough terrain chassis gives the warehouse flexibility to work both on paved apron areas and in outdoor yard sections.
At receiving, the telehandler unloads block and brick pallets from trucks and places them in temporary staging lanes near the warehouse. This creates a clear flow from incoming deliveries to rack storage without blocking the main access road.
When pallets are ready for storage, HT6018 lifts them to the required rack height and slowly inserts the load into the correct bay. The operator uses small boom adjustments to align the pallet with the rack beams and set it down evenly.
For order picking, the telehandler retrieves pallet rows from upper storage positions and transfers them to shipping or ground-level pick zones. This helps the supplier keep fast-moving inventory accessible while preserving dense storage layouts in the main rack area.
The telehandler also assists with rearranging stock during peak season, moving products between overflow areas and the main warehouse so the operation can respond to changing order volumes without additional equipment.
Operators follow load charts and confirm pallet weights before each lift, especially when handling fully loaded masonry pallets close to maximum height. The fork spacing and attachment setup are checked to match the pallet size and load centre.
Travel paths through the warehouse are marked clearly to separate telehandler traffic from pedestrians and picking activities. Spotters are used when working in narrow aisles or close to rack uprights.
The rack area is kept level and free of loose debris to support stable travel and precise pallet placement. Regular inspection of forks, tyres and hydraulic systems helps maintain reliable performance under repeated heavy-duty use.
Using the HT6018 telehandler for block and brick pallet high-rack storage improves space utilisation by making vertical storage practical for heavy masonry products.
The warehouse can store more stock in the same footprint, while also retrieving pallets more quickly for outbound orders and local deliveries.
